Our story


Founded on January 7, 1986, Comil Ônibus was born with the aim of offering the right size of buses to the market, combining design, safety, comfort and, above all, quality.

 

Over the years, the company has built a solid history, shaped by innovation and hard work, which has led to market recognition.

 

Currently, Comil Bus is a reference in the development of solutions for public transport. The brand was consolidated by the tradition of quality and innovation in its products, designed to meet the needs of customers and the demands of the markets where it operates.

1985

The Corradi family acquires the bus bodybuilder Incasel, based in Erechim, at an auction and begins production in a new segment: the bus.

1986

On January 7th, the COMIL brand is launched onto the market. The company hires 58 employees and continues the production of the models developed by the former Incasel: Cisne and Minuano (urban line), Continental, Jumbo, Delta and Colúmbia (road models). Thus, it closes the year with 166 units delivered.

1987

The company starts the development of the Condottiere, the first COMIL road model, which was launched the following year. In the same year, the construction of the new factory begins.

1989

The SVELTO model is presented, for COMIL's urban line, replacing the Cisne and Minuano. The model remains on the market until today, and is a highlight in its segment.

1990

The new COMIL factory is built in the Industrial District of Erechim, and all production is transferred there, where it remains until the present day.

1992

This is the year of the launch of yet another road model by COMIL, the GALEGGIANTE.

1996

Betting on design, COMIL starts to act in a more expressive way in the foreign market. The articulated market is also the target of COMIL, which, in celebration of its 10th anniversary, launches the articulated model DOPPIO.

1998

The CAMPIONE road model is presented, reinforcing COMIL's presence in the long-distance segment. COMIL also enters the intercity market with the launch of the VERSATILE model.

2000

Attentive to market demands, COMIL launches the PIÁ model and enters the minibus segment. Total production reaches 10,000 units, demonstrating the maturity achieved.

2001

New phase under the command of the Corradi family: the company's focus becomes even more on people qualification, quality processes, and professionalization. The effort reflects the quality of the work and ensures the company stands out in the bus segment.

2004

An important year for COMIL. With a new pavilion for prototypes and tooling and the inauguration of the new administrative building, COMIL once again expands its manufacturing facilities.

2006

The new Versatile is launched on the market. Much more comfortable, safe and agile, the vehicle attracted the attention of intercity transport companies.

2007

The company achieves an important milestone: production reaches the milestone of 25,000 vehicles produced. This year, CAMPIONE VISION is also launched.

2008

Launch of the new SVELTO with more technology, design and cost-effectiveness. The new MICRO PIÁ and the HD VISION are also presented to the market, completing the Campione Vision family. With the adoption of the principles of Corporate Governance, in December 2008, COMIL changes its legal personality, changing from a limited liability company to a privately-held company, henceforth called COMIL Ônibus S.A.

2010

The company innovates by introducing quality and high technology automotive trends to the market, with a new design for the CAMPIONE family, in addition to the launch of its new model, the SVELTO MIDI.

2011

In the year it completed 25 years, COMIL celebrated its result, considered the best in the sector in 2011. In the same year, it innovated, presenting a new concept for the transport of high standard passengers with the arrival of its first double vehicle decker, the CAMPIONE DD.

2013

Innovation in the charter segment, with the launch of a new family of products, COMIL introduced the following vehicles to the market: Versatile, Campione 3.25 and Campione 3.45. The vehicles stand out for their technological innovations in production processes and new materials, focusing on the best cost-effectiveness for the customer, one of COMIL's main premises.

Launch of the new Campiones with rear engine, called the INVICTUS line, bringing a new visual identity to the family of medium and long distance coaches.

2017

COMIL launches a new bodywork model for the road segment, the CAMPIONE INVICTUS HD.

Launch of the first body with a 100% electric chassis, developed for short and medium distance highway operations.

Launch of the new version of Micro Piá. With new design, more technology and comfort.

COMIL launches the new Campione Invictus DD 2023. With a new design, more modern and dynamic lines, the vehicle has a modern and differentiated exterior and interior finishes. Another novelty by Comil was the launch of a new line of road seats.

Launch of the new INVICTUS 1200 and 1050 models, bringing a new visual identity to the road bus range. The 2024 models have a modern and dynamic design, with different interior finishes, offering a sophisticated and comfortable experience.

COMIL's new HD Invictus 2025 features a modern and updated design, combined with interior improvements to offer comfort and ease for both passengers and drivers. Maintaining the commitment to the best cost-benefit, it is an attractive option for customers looking for quality and efficiency.
